Further to the August update from the National Energy System Operator (NESO) which had already set alarm bells ringing for massive increases in transmission costs, the latest update in January is slightly better news, albeit still not favourable.

The agreed kVA capacity which supplies are banded are set to change slightly, meaning that technically, more customers should be caught under lower bandings (which in turn attract lower charges then had they been in higher bandings).

However – the cost increases for ALL bandings are still so high, this is still bad news for all customers.

Costs are increasing by 41% to 88% depending on their banding, and are still planned to continue increasing into 2030.
